Hey, Smubbers!

If you’ve created or followed a smubbed link lately, you may have noticed some changes to the look & feel of the Smub banner. Hopefully, you will like it a super bunch, but please feel free to let us know what you think.

You may also have noticed that we now use OAuth for logging into your Twitter account — just trying to simplify the smubbing process for you.

Additionally, we’ve done some bug fixing for smubbing from iPhones, particularly in regard to emailing links.

As always, please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any comments, questions or observations. We’re here for you!

Talk to you soon!

Howdy, Smubbers!

Everyone at Smub has been busy working on a brand new and very exciting offering! It’s hush-hush at the moment, but we’ll be able to share with you soon!

In the meantime, we’ve got a brand new, handy update for you! If you’ve been using the Smub toolbar for Firefox and IE to access smubs, you’ll find that the latest update allows the shortcut field to automatically complete your smub, based on the first three letters you’ve typed in! This is particularly handy if you can quite recollect the shortcut you’re looking for, but have some idea of what it may be!

ENJOY!

The Smub-It button is now live on two exceptional sites: L’Equipe.fr, the website of France’s most popular sports magazine; and CRAFTzine.com, website of “the first project-based magazine dedicated to the renaissance in the world of crafts.”

From now on, at the bottom of every article or post on L’Equipe or CRAFT, you’ll see our little Smub-It button. What’s the Smub-It button you ask? It’s just a little button that allows you to share the page you’re viewing with any of the social networks that Smub supports (17, so far!) with just a click. Here’s the Smub-It button now, as displayed on L’Equipe:

We are absolutely ecstatic that L’Equipe and CRAFT have chosen to include Smub for their readers’ link-sharing needs. We really hope you’ll check out both sites, as they’re absolutely brimming with news, information, tutorials and projects!

Here are some of today’s interesting and frequently tweeted smubs, in case you missed them!

Don’t Forget the Forward Slash!

Posted by Marie in Smub, Troubleshooting, iPhone on June 2nd, 2009 | No Comments »

Howdy, Smubbers!

We’ve been seeing a lot of comments and tweets from people who are having some difficulties when typing “smub.it/” into their browsers’ address bars. A lot of the error messages being received are due to a very simple cause, the lack of the forward slash! Just a reminder: It’s absolutely essential to include the forward slash (this guy: /) when trying to smub your link!

If you’re having any other issues with Smub, let us know!

New URL Structure for Smub

Posted by janet in Bookmark, Mobile Smubs, Share Smubs, Shrink, Smub, iPhone on May 14th, 2009 | No Comments »

In an effort to help iPhone users post really really short links to Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Reddit, and more, we’ve reconfigured our URL structure. Now, when you simply want to post a link, you’ll get a randomly generated Smub, like this:

Smub's URLs are Shorter

Smub

These shorter URLs are meant to help with Twitter posts, especially. If you choose to bookmark, or save, a Smub, it’ll continue to pull a short string of characters to help you remember the bookmark.

Of course, if you want to name your URLs, simply sign up for a Smub account, and you can name every link you save or share!

We wanted to give you the flexibility of choice. Let us know what you think!

Smub’s Brand New World

Posted by janet in Bookmark, Mobile Smubs, Smub, iPhone on April 23rd, 2009 | No Comments »

Smub users are now experiencing a brand new interface when they type smub.it/ to the left of the http:// in their browsers, and they love it. I’ve heard, “wow, that’s cool…” from loyal Smubbers who’ve Smubbed a page since yesterday. Our new version of Smub further enhances the experience our web users have always had - by adding sharing options and making bookmarking even easier.

Smub's New Web Interface

Built for iPhone Bookmarking

The Smub experience now looks a lot like an iPhone, and it’s no wonder. We’re the first to provide iPhone users the capability to bookmark or share any link from an iPhone, finally making mobile bookmarking a reality.

And the Smub experience is seamless from web browswe to the new iPhone interface:

In research we completed earlier this winter, we found that iPhone users are interested in, and frustrated by, sharing - or just plain saving - links from their iPhones. So we’ve answered those needs with our new capabilities in this release.

Counting click-thru’s, using the Smub Toolbar, creating branded URLs and more are still features we support in the new Smub. We’ll look forward to exploring those capabilities with you in the coming weeks and months!

Meanwhile, check out the brand new world Smub is opening to iPhone users… The best part? Smub remains free to register and use.
