Popular Smubs on Twitter Today

Posted by Marie in Updates on May 28th, 2009 | No Comments »

A couple of interesting smubs on the twitterverse today. Here they are in case you missed them!

All Things Digital has an excellent recap of an interview with @Ev and @Biz, founders of Twitter. The interview covers the origins of Twitter, “openness and open platforms,” and the founders’ intentions to still be running the Twitter show five years down the road. It’s an excellent read for Twitter fans and business buffs alike! You can read more at this smub: http://smub.it/jh3.

Google Wave is (incoming pun) making huge waves! People are calling it “What email would look life if it were invented today.” Google wants Wave on blogs and “any type of site you can imagine.” What do you think? TechCrunch has more about Google Wave at this smub: http://smub.it/jh7.

Your Email, Your Way

You can now send your smubs directly from your preferred email client, rather than through Smub mail. To make this change, login to your Smub account, go to your Profile page and select the User Info tab. From here, in the Mail System section, you can choose between using Smub mail, or your own default mail application. The next time you choose to send a smub to email, your preferred client will be used!

Copy Your ShortCuts Directly

Posted by Marie in Updates on May 28th, 2009 | No Comments »

Ever just wanted simply to copy and paste a smub without posting it immediately? This new update allows you to copy a smub directly from the ShortCut field on the mybookmarks page of your Smub account. All you have to do is right-click on the ShortCut you’re after and select Copy. You can then paste the smub anywhere you like!

You’ll also be able to copy the smub directly from the “Smub Made” page! Once you’ve finished creating your smub, there will be a line at the top of the page telling you your action was successful and providing you the full text of your smub. Simply right-click your smub and select copy. Paste away as needed!

We’re really striving to get all your bases covered, so stay in touch and let us know what sites you’d like us to support. Check back here for more updates. We’ll be adding new supported sites almost each week!

New Smub Banner

Posted by Marie in Updates on May 28th, 2009 | 2 Comments »

If you’ve followed a smub recently, you may have noticed a Smub toolbar at the top of your browser.

This new toolbar allows anyone who follows a smub to share that link instantly with their own social networking sites. Hopefully, it will make it easier for people to pass along the links they find. If, however, you’d like the toolbar to disappear at any time, simply click the Remove Bar button at the right of the bar.

Using Smub on the iPhone!

Posted by Marie in Demos, iPhone on May 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

Have you been wondering just how, exactly, to use Smub from your iPhone? Hungering, perhaps, for a demo? Our CEO Thierry Lamouline gives a very nice iPhone demo in the following clip.

If you want to go straight to the demo portion, it starts at about 51 seconds in.

Need more demos? I’m totally hard at work at a few. If there’s something specific you’d like a walkthrough for, just let me know! I super duper welcome your comments, questions and observations. Sure is quiet around here…. [crickets].

Popular Smubs on Twitter: Social Media & its Discontents

Posted by Marie in People, Share Smubs, Twitter on May 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

So far today, two very different stories have really been making the smub rounds on Twitter.

First up is the the news that the New York Times has appointed its first Social Media Editor, Jennifer Preston.

According to @marshallk’s Read Write Web (whose tweet first brought the story to our attention), although Preston is a journalist, author and adjunct professor at Columbia, her online footprint is, as yet, rather small — with very little indeed known about her personal use of social media. So, what exactly does a Social Media Editor do? Read more at http://smub.it/gf9!

The second story revolves around Twitter’s most-followed celebrity, Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk).

Following the news that Twitter has entered into a “lightweight, non-exclusive” reality TV development deal, Kutcher tweeted his discontent: “Wow I hope this isn’t true. I really don’t like being sold out. May have to take a twitter hiatus.” CNN has the story at http://smub.it/gi1. @TheExpert’s (who first tweeted the smub) reaction? “OMG! The horror! Ashton Kutcher threatens to leave Twitter [...] How will we survive w/out his pithy commentary?”

What interesting smubs have you seen today? Sharing is caring, smubbers!
